MY STORY
Studio 2010 Design is an online jewellery boutique that features the Jacqueline Collection. I handcraft each piece in my home-based studio in Mississauga, Ontario.
I have been fascinated by jewellery for as long as I can remember. After retiring in 2000 from my career in corporate marketing management, I decided to pursue my interest in gemstones and jewellery and entered this industry as a retail manager of a local fine gold and diamond centre. During this time, I completed a certified course through the Canadian Gemmological Association and studied precious gems. My work with handcrafting jewellery began with pearl designs using freshwater pearls on silk individually knotted. It has expanded to include wire-wrapping and chain maille using metals such as sterling and filled silver, gold-filled wire and copper. Many of my creations incorporate turquoise and Swarovski crystal.
Why the magnolia as a logo?
Magnolias, like jewellery, have been around for centuries. In Victorian times, the sending of flowers, gems and jewellery as gifts was a discreet way of lovers sending messages to each other. In ancient China, the magnolia was thought to be the perfect symbol of womanly beauty, gentleness and nobility. It is also thought to be associated with divine beauty, life force and perfection.
Each of my pieces is designed with similar traits in mind and is sure to make you feel beautiful inside and out.
